Centex Homes (New Wales Development, Culpeper County, VA)

The Project

Faced with significant water needs to supply a large planned unit development (PUD) community, Centex Homes contracted EGGI to conduct a phased groundwater exploration program to locate and develop groundwater resources at the New Wales Project Site in northeast Culpeper County, Virginia.

Using a variety of advanced groundwater exploration methods, including electrical resistivity and satellite imagery analyses, EGGI’s scientists investigated the complicated hydrogeologic conditions and successfully located numerous high-yielding wells.  Development of the groundwater supplies from crystalline bedrock aquifers was a critical component to the potential success of this Centex project.

Status/Results:

EGGI successfully identified and drilled a series of high-yield bedrock wells and developed the needed groundwater resources for this planned 800-unit mixed residential commercial subdivision The results of the groundwater testing program indicated that groundwater resources of good to excellent quality could be withdrawn from four production wells at a combined rate that meets or exceeds the maximum water supply needed.
