Ziai Subdivision (Loudoun County, VA)

The Project

Drainfield Feasibility Assessment using Geophysics

The proposed Ziai Subdivision is located in northern Virginia within the Limestone Overlay District of Loudoun County, Virginia. One of the requirements to obtain County approval for developments within this District is to conduct a detailed assessment of potential karst development within the bedrock underlying proposed drainfields.

EGGI performed this assessment by conducting detailed field mapping, lineament analyses, and electrical resistivity geophysical surveys. The surveys were completed using ABEM geophysical equipment. The equipment was setup in a manner to enhance the detection of geophysical anomalies in the near surface (< 45 feet below ground surface).

Status/Results:

EGGI investigated 18 proposed drainfield sites within the Ziai Subdivision. Geologic interpretations of the two-dimensional geophysical models were created during the investigation and were submitted to the Loudoun County Department of Building & Development for review and approval.
