Client project details
Hampstead Area Water Company, NH (Groundwater Resource Development)
The Hampstead Area Water Company (HAWC) was in dire need of developing additional groundwater sources to meet the current and future water demands of their Walnut Grove Water System in Atkinson, New Hampshire. EGGI was hired by the HAWC to perform a groundwater investigation within Atkinson to assess the potential for developing additional groundwater resources that could supplement those already obtained from existing Production Wells. It should be noted that, prior to EGGI's hire, previous groundwater consultants had been hired by HAWC and failed to successfully develop and permit a new source of water supply.
Based on EGGI’s compilation of existing hydrogeologic data, potential contaminant threat information, on-site detailed geologic mapping, and the collection and analysis of geophysical data, EGGI selected areas that were considered hydrogeologically favorable for groundwater development within the Town of Atkinson. Drilling within two of the selected groundwater development areas resulted in the development of a combined yield of 242 gpm (348,840 gpd) from local bedrock aquifers.
This project has gone through two public hearings and EGGI has submitted the final hydrogeologic report to the NHDES. EGGI has successfully received the Final Large Groundwater Withdrawal Permit for these new groundwater supply sources.
