Client project details
Town of Ashland, NH (Groundwater Development & Protection)
The Project
Ashland - Development of New Supply and Delineation of Wellhead Protection Area - Avery - EPA / NHDES, New Hampshire
EGGI completed the development of a well capable of yielding in excess of 2 MGD to meet the entire water needs of the Town of Ashland. Detailed contaminant threats surveys, combined with the installation of 20 groundwater monitoring wells, were used to develop a conceptual hydrogeologic model of the aquifer. Such data were then incorporated into a numerical groundwater flow model, which was used to delineate the Wellhead Protection Area, groundwater flow paths, and travel times for potential contaminants to migrate toward the Ashland Production Well.
Status/Results:
Wellhead protection plans were prepared and implemented under NHDES guidelines. The Town of Ashland and the NHDES considered this project as an important step to the long-term protection of this critical public water supply.
Detailed contaminant threats surveys, combined with the installation of 20 groundwater monitoring wells, were used to develop a conceptual hydrogeologic model of the aquifer.
