Client project details
Beacon Hill, VA (Residential Development in Loudoun County, VA)
Given EGGI's proven ability to help homebuilders identify, develop and permit high-yielding groundwater resources in challenging settings, EGGI was contracted to develop groundwater supplies adequate to support a major residential housing development in Loudoun County, Virginia. The development plan was a complex one, carried out in phases, and included a multitude of 3-acre lots, clusters of smaller lots (hamlets), an equestrian center, and a golf course... all on a property totaling more than 1,000 acres. EGGI was tasked with siting, drilling, and testing of individual domestic wells; the development of wells to serve a small-community water system; and the development of wells to provide irrigation water to a golf course.
EGGI carried out a detailed hydro-study to demonstrate the feasibility of using groundwater to meet all of the water supply needs of each phase of the development project. EGGI sited the individual domestic wells with proper regard for setbacks from drainfields and house footprints. EGGI conducted extensive hydrogeological studies to determine the most promising locations for developing the high-yielding wells needed to support the small-community water system and to provide irrigation water for the golf course. Over the course of this project, EGGI developed a series of wells in the Blue Ridge geologic setting that cumulatively yielded a total of 1,485 gpm (2+ MGD).
EGGI succeeded in identifying, developing and permitting the groundwater supplies necessary to serve the entire subdivision and related activities, in accordance with all State and County regulations.
