Maryland Golf Academy (Baltimore County, MD)

The Project

The Maryland Golf Academy designed an executive nine-hole golf course and training facility to be constructed near Towson, Maryland.   As part of the permitting process for this project, the Baltimore County Department of Environmental Protection and Resource Management requested a hydrogeologic evaluation of the site.  This assessment investigated the potential for developing on-site groundwater sources for irrigation water and to provide background hydrogeologic data needed to design a long-term groundwater monitoring program.  

The Maryland Golf Academy hired EGGI to conduct the required hydrogeologic study in preparation for a public hearing on the project.  EGGI utilized hydrogeologic data collected through detailed geologic mapping, soil surveys, borings, lineament analyses, and geophysical surveys to create a conceptual hydrogeologic model of the 150-acre project site. 

Status/Results:

The results of EGGI's hydrogeologic investigation led to the selection of two potential irrigation well sites and the development of a detailed groundwater monitoring program.  Hydrogeologic insights gained through EGGI's assessment formed the critical component to the testimony presented at the required project hearings and the project received all of its necessary approvals.
