Regional Groundwater Availability Assessments
Groundwater Availability Often Under-Investigated
Groundwater availability within complex hydrogeologic settings is often insufficiently investigated globally. Groundwater resources in these terrains are routinely underestimated and underutilized as a result. Given the limited number of comprehensive hydrogeological assessments completed throughout many regions, substantial renewable groundwater resources are often not investigated, identified, developed or described.
Such overlooked aquifers – capable of producing incremental, sustainable, and high-yield water sources – can exist in close proximity to unmet demands.
Quantify Regional Resources & Delineate Favorable Sub-Areas
Representing the initial phase for many of our exploration projects, EGGI’s advanced Regional Groundwater Availability Assessments establish the aggregate volumes of renewable groundwater resources on a regional scale, and delineate sub-areas according to their potential for incremental sustainable groundwater development. EGGI’s rigorous, data-driven approach evaluates geologic setting, recharge availability, existing withdrawals, contaminant threats, and additional factors, in order to accurately map, characterize and understand regional groundwater resources, and the geologic settings where they exist.
Far More Accurate Than Traditional Analyses
Developed over twenty-five years, EGGI’s proprietary process has been proven to yield far more accurate results than traditional analyses. We have successfully performed advanced Regional Groundwater Availability Assessments – across a wide variety of locations and hydrogeologic terrains – for hundreds of clients, including: real estate developers, commercial and institutional enterprises, Oil and Gas operators, County Water Authorities, State run organizations, municipalities, and large international consortiums.
Routinely Discover Significant New Groundwater Supplies
As part of EGGI’s advanced Regional Groundwater Availability Assessments, we routinely uncover new, sustainable groundwater resources that – prior to our investigation – had been overlooked and undeveloped. In many cases these resources exist in close proximity to unmet demands.
Strategic Resource Maps and Detailed Regional Report
At the completion of each Regional Groundwater Availability Assessment, clients receive a compilation of actionable strategic resource maps, ranking sub-regions according to their favorability for groundwater development potential, as well as a detailed regional resource report.
Powerful Knowledge-Based Tool for Future Land Use and Water Supply Planning
Since the availability of groundwater resources is dependent upon site specific geologic conditions, and because growth continues to occur, future land use decisions will often interfere with future groundwater supply availability. For example, if growth causes dense residential or commercial development on land where the best sustainable groundwater resources are available, those groundwater resources will be lost forever.
While we cannot change the geology or groundwater favorability of one site to another, one can alter where development activity will take place in the future through appropriate planning. Establishing a knowledge-based understanding of where all potential groundwater resources can be developed today will serve as an outstanding tool for land use and sustainable water resource planning for years to come.
Preserve Precious Groundwater Supply Sources for Future Generations
Armed with a far more accurate knowledge-base than otherwise exists, EGGI's Clients are able to proactively secure favorable sites for future groundwater development. “Sensitive” groundwater protection policies can be established for newly identified bedrock and unconsolidated aquifers, and valuable groundwater resources can be reserved for the use of future generations.
Attract Regional Economic Development and Investment
Regional businesses and industry have become increasingly cognizant of local water resource availability and pricing, and are making key logistical and locational decisions based upon it. Identifying and mapping proven, low-cost, sustainable supplies represents a key strategic asset for recruiting new investment and boosting economic development.
